Further trip information

This 9-day adventure takes you to unspoilt Indonesian islands and beaches that are only just being discovered by western travellers. There are limited western amenities and very few restaurants and backpacker bars, so this is a truly off-the-beaten track experience. Often, your tour group will be the only tourists on the islands – an amazing privilege!

Day 1: Kuta, Lombok. Enjoy your surroundings and relax at the accommodation's pool before meeting up with the rest of the group for a welcome meal this evening.

Day 2: Sasak Village. Discover local culture this morning with a visit to a local Sasak village. Afterwards, you’ll go on an afternoon trek through the beautiful jungle, stopping at the local falls to take a dip in the cool waters.

Day 3: Lombok Beach Combing. Spend the day checking out Lombok's sublime beaches. Lie back on the sands and soak up the sun, then cool off with a dip in the sea, or get involved with surfing or snorkeling.

Day 4: Lombok to Sumbawa. Today you’ll explore further east, taking a ferry from Lombok to the golden shores of Sumbawa. Spend the afternoon relaxing on this quiet, unspoilt island.

Day 5: Moyo Island. Heading out to sea again, you’ll make the journey to Moyo, where you'll spend an incredible day touring the island with a local guide. Discover picturesque beaches, beautiful forests, and gorgeous waterfalls that very few western tourists have ever laid eyes on!

Day 6: Satonda Island. Board a private live-aboard boat for 3 days of sailing adventures. Sail to Satonda Island and stop off for a snorkelling session to take a closer look at some incredible underwater marine life. Later on, enjoy a delicious dinner on board the boat before bedding down in your group dorm.

Day 7: Padar Island. Make your way over to Padar Island and step ashore onto Pink Beach, aptly named for its unusual pink sand. Hike up to Padar viewpoint for some exceptional views.

Day 8: Komodo Island & Flores. Enjoy a hearty breakfast on deck this morning before jumping into the sea and spending a morning swimming and snorkelling with manta rays. Then drop anchor at Komodo Island and find the island's famous resident dragons. Enjoy a farewell group meal this evening.

Day 9: Farewell. Day 9 marks the end of this incredible Indonesian island tour, so check out of the accommodation and make your way to the airport (the closest airport is Labuan Bajo, around 20 minutes' drive from the hotel). Your tour guide will be able to help you book transport.

Please note: some of the activities on this itinerary and the order in which they take place are subject to change.

Accommodation & meals

8 nights’ accommodation is included in this trip. As these parts of Indonesia are only just being discovered by western travellers, there are very few hotels set up for tourists. Accommodation mostly consists of twin share guesthouse accommodation with the added bonus of air-conditioning and the use of an onsite swimming pool. In Lombok, your accommodation will be in the form of a basic but clean and convenient hotel, in Sumbawa you’ll stay in rustic wooden bungalows right on the beach!

During the 3-day boat trip, you’ll get to spend two nights on board in a large dorm-style room with the rest of the group.

You’ll finish your trip on the island of Flores, where your accommodation, in the town of Labuan Bajo, at an amazing backpacker accommodation, again with its own pool, and is located right on the beach with awesome views over the sea.

Most of your meals aren’t included on this trip, which will give you the opportunity to try out a whole host of delicious Indonesian cuisine at a variety of fantastic local diners and restaurants. You will however, be fed and watered for the duration of the live-aboard boat trip, where the crew will prepare fresh food for you. Breakfast will typically consist of pancakes and fresh fruit with a selection of tasty local dishes for lunch, and a variety of noodles, tempeh, sticky rice, and vegetable dishes for dinner. Please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements when you book.

Minimum age & eligibility

This trip is designed for travellers aged 18-39.

British visitors arriving in Indonesia will be issued with a free visa on arrival, valid for a stay of up to 30 days. You must have a passport with at least 6 months' validity from your arrival date.

If you wish to stay in Indonesia for longer than 30 days, you will no longer be able to extend your visa in-country, so you will need to apply for a 60-day tourist/social visa in advance of travel. Visa rules and regulations are subject to change. Please check the relevant embassy websites for up to date information.

Covid safety

This trip is designed with your safety and wellbeing in mind. As a result of Covid-19, many of our suppliers and partners around the world are introducing new policies and procedures surrounding health and safety in response to the Coronavirus outbreak. As the state of travel is evolving these new safety measures will adapt over time, and will be different for each trip. Here are some of the changes you may see on your trip:

Arrival safety meetings
Most trips have an arrival meeting on the first day where the guide or local team will run through the trip, the safety protocols, and to answer any questions you may have. Now more than ever it is important you arrive in time for these meetings.

Proof of vaccination or negative covid test
For the safety of all travellers, at the start of some trips you may be required to show evidence that you are fully vaccinated (14 days after your second dose) and/or show evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the tour start date in order to join the programme.

Updated hygiene and safety procedures
Our suppliers and partners have health and safety procedures in place on all of our trips. These protocols will be updated and adapted as a response to the Coronavirus outbreak, dependent on local restrictions and laws.

Transport and accommodation choices
Our suppliers and partners choose the accommodation and transport on our trips very carefully, and you may see a change to what would normally be used as a response to the outbreak. This may involve such changes as enhanced use of private transport or quieter accommodation.

Trained and knowledgeable staff
Our staff in the UK are trained to help you with your trip before you depart and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the local team and guides on our trips are there to help with any health and safety concerns and to ensure our trips run safely and smoothly.

Reduced group sizes
Some trips will run with reduced group sizes to start with. You may find that trips are more intimate and chilled, whilst still being packed with fun and adventure.

Your guide or the local team will be on hand to help you seek medical attention should you require it during your trip. As medical facilities and standards can vary around the world, you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place before you depart to cover you for any medical emergencies.

24/7 emergency support
We operate an emergency phone line for our travellers abroad. This is operated by a UK based member of staff 24/7 if you have a genuine emergency or urgent matter that you need attending.

It is important that you take measures to make travelling safer for yourself and others around you. Ensure you frequently wash your hands, cover your face when you sneeze and cough, bring and use your own hand sanitiser and facial coverings/masks, and enable social distancing where necessary. You should also ensure you listen to the instructions and guidance of the local team at all times, and follow all local laws and restrictions.
