Further trip information

Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok. You’ll be met from the airport by a member of our team and taken to your accommodation near the legendary Khao San Road! This evening meet the rest of your group and find out about the amazing trip we’ve got in store!

Day 2: Bangkok. Get to know the city from the water with a boat tour. Cruise past floating markets, open-fronted houses and many major attractions. We’ll pay a visit to Wat Arun and Wat Pho, home of the iconic reclining Buddah. You can also stop at the spectacular Grand Palace if you choose.

Day 3: Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. Travel into the lush green forests of Kanchanaburi - the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Freshen up at your guesthouse, before heading out for a relaxed evening with your group.

Day 4: Kanchanaburi Elephant Camp. We’ve got a special day in store with a visit to an ethical elephant camp. Feed the elephants and walk with them to a local watering hole to give them a bath. You’ll need a big scrubbing-brush!

Day 5: Kanchanaburi and Erawan National Park. Erawan is a beautiful forested area, which is home to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand. Cool off in the emerald pools at each of the falls’ seven levels and take some cracking selfies. Then spend the afternoon exploring Kanchanaburi.

Day 6: Kanchanaburi to Koh Tao, via Bangkok. Spend the morning relaxing riverside in Kanchanaburi, before travelling back to Bangkok. Then hop on a bus heading south towards the pristine white sands of Koh Tao.

Day 7: Koh Tao. Settle into your accommodation on laid-back Tao. It’s a textbook tropical island with turquoise sea, gently waving palms and world-class diving. Enjoy some time on the beach before slurping an ice-cold cocktail in one of the beach bars while the sun goes down.

Day 8: Koh Tao Viewpoint Excursion and Freedom Beach. Hike to a viewpoint today for a spectacular panorama across the island. Then visit Freedom Beach – a fave with locals and visitors alike, thanks to its fine sandy beach, clear blue water and dense mangrove jungle backdrop.

Day 9: Koh Tao Snorkelling Trip. Explore the best snorkelling spots around the island on a fabulous boat trip. Sun yourself on deck or launch yourself into the sea to look for colourful tropical fish. Sail back with the sea-salt in your hair and get ready for a night out Tao-style!

Day 10: Koh Tao to Koh Phangan. Hop over to Koh Phangan and get ready to partaaaay!

Days 11 – 12: Koh Phangan. Phangan is nights dancing under the stars and days stretched out on soft sandy beaches. If you’re not in the party mood, there’s still plenty to do here. Why not take a long-tail to one of the hard-to-reach coves or hail a tuk-tuk for a trip into the interior?

Day 13: Koh Phangan to Koh Samui. It’s a short boat ride across to Samui. One of the larger Thai islands, Samui boasts sun-soaked beaches, shimmering seas and thick coconut groves. Spend the afternoon lazing under a palm tree with a glass of something cold and fruity.

Day 14: Samui and Ang Thong Marine Park. Spend the day cruising between the islands of the exquisitely beautiful Marine Park, stopping to snorkel in the warm waters. Tonight, we’ll hit Chaweng, where all the island’s liveliest nightlife can be found, including the famous Ark Bar.

Day 15: Samui to Ao Nang (21 day trip only). Head to vibrant Ao Nang by boat and bus. Check into your accommodation and grab some sundowners on the front.

If you are booked on the shorter 15 day trip, you finish on Koh Samui this morning. You can depart from Samui airport at any time.

Day 16: Free Day in Ao Nang. Enjoy Ao Nang beach and town today. If you fancy going further afield, book yourself a boat trip to the bewitching surrounding islands or take a diving or kayaking excursion.

Day 17: Ao Nang and Railay Beach. Take a taxi boat round the headland to the exquisite beach at Railay. Railay is a blindingly white arc of sand, sandwiched between limestone headlands, dotted with climbers. Bronze your bod, cool off in the sea, or try out some rock climbing yourself.

Day 18: Ao Nang to Koh Phi Phi. Take a ferry to the paradise island of Phi Phi today. We’ll arrive with plenty of time to stretch out on the idyllic beach, before grabbing a beer at one of the reggae bars along the shoreline.

Day 19: Phi Phi Viewpoint Trek. Break a sweat with a hike to one of the island’s highest points! Marvel at the view before scrambling back down. This evening kick back with a cocktail as the sun sets and watch the fire-dancers on the beach.

Day 20: Phi Phi Sunset Boat Trip. Spend the morning as you please, before boarding the boat for our sunset tour. We’ll drop anchor in 3-4 spectacular locations to allow you to snorkel in the crystal-clear sea. We’ll finish the day with an atmospheric sunset barbecue.

Day 21: Trip End. It’s time to pack your bags and say your farewells. Your amazing Islands of Thailand trip has come to an end.

Arrival information

Arrive in to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) where you’ll be met by one of our team and taken to your starting accommodation in the city. There are no activities planned for today, apart from a welcome meeting this evening, so arrive whenever suits you best. However, please note that airport transfers are only available between 6am and 10pm. If you arrive outside these hours, or at Bangkok’s smaller airport (Don Muang), you will need to take a taxi to your hotel, which is very easy to arrange.

This 21 day trip ends on the island of Koh Phi Phi. You’ll need to arrange your own transfer back to the airport for your flight home. The nearest airport is Phuket and we recommend flying out of this airport.  Alternatively you can book a boat/bus transfer service to travel overland back to Bangkok, which takes around 15 hours.

If you book the shorter 15 day option your trip ends on Koh Samui. You can depart from Koh Samui airport at any time on day 15.

Accommodation & meals

14 or 20 nights’ accommodation are included on this trip, depending on which trip duration you’ve selected. You’ll stay in traditional Thai guesthouses in twin-share rooms. All accommodation includes air-conditioning, WIFI access and western-style private bathrooms.

Please note: In some of the hotels along the way, you may be asked to pay a security deposit of £15 - £20. This is standard practice across Thailand. This is fully refundable on departure, as long as there’s no damage to your room.

Meals are not included on this trip. This allows you maximum flexibility to eat when and where you want and is a really important part of your cultural experience. Thailand is a foodie’s dream, with affordable restaurants on every corner and some of the best street-food in the world.

Minimum age & eligibility

The minimum age to join this group tour is 18.

British nationals can enter Thailand without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days if arriving by land or air. Visa rules and regulations are subject to change. Please check the relevant embassy websites for up to date information.

Covid safety

This trip is designed with your safety and wellbeing in mind. As a result of Covid-19, many of our suppliers and partners around the world are introducing new policies and procedures surrounding health and safety in response to the Coronavirus outbreak. As the state of travel is evolving these new safety measures will adapt over time, and will be different for each trip. Here are some of the changes you may see on your trip:

Arrival safety meetings
Most trips have an arrival meeting on the first day where the guide or local team will run through the trip, the safety protocols, and to answer any questions you may have. Now more than ever it is important you arrive in time for these meetings.

Proof of vaccination or negative covid test
For the safety of all travellers, at the start of some trips you may be required to show evidence that you are fully vaccinated (14 days after your second dose) and/or show evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the tour start date in order to join the programme.

Updated hygiene and safety procedures
Our suppliers and partners have health and safety procedures in place on all of our trips. These protocols will be updated and adapted as a response to the Coronavirus outbreak, dependent on local restrictions and laws.

Transport and accommodation choices
Our suppliers and partners choose the accommodation and transport on our trips very carefully, and you may see a change to what would normally be used as a response to the outbreak. This may involve such changes as enhanced use of private transport or quieter accommodation.

Trained and knowledgeable staff
Our staff in the UK are trained to help you with your trip before you depart and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the local team and guides on our trips are there to help with any health and safety concerns and to ensure our trips run safely and smoothly.

Reduced group sizes
Some trips will run with reduced group sizes to start with. You may find that trips are more intimate and chilled, whilst still being packed with fun and adventure.

Your guide or the local team will be on hand to help you seek medical attention should you require it during your trip. As medical facilities and standards can vary around the world, you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place before you depart to cover you for any medical emergencies.

24/7 emergency support
We operate an emergency phone line for our travellers abroad. This is operated by a UK based member of staff 24/7 if you have a genuine emergency or urgent matter that you need attending.

It is important that you take measures to make travelling safer for yourself and others around you. Ensure you frequently wash your hands, cover your face when you sneeze and cough, bring and use your own hand sanitiser and facial coverings/masks, and enable social distancing where necessary. You should also ensure you listen to the instructions and guidance of the local team at all times, and follow all local laws and restrictions.
