Enjoy the ultimate introduction to Brazil on this 8-day extravaganza! This unguided trip brings together a fantastic combination of local experiences including a city tour of Rio de Janeiro, a tour of Santa Marta favela, a boat trip to a gorgeous Ilha Grande beach and an island-hopping cruise around Brazil’s off shore islands. From festive streets, to sprawling favelas, to unspoilt islands and picturesque towns – you’ll have seen and done it all in Rio!

Day 1: Welcome to Rio! Touch down in Brazil and take an inclusive arrival transfer to your cool city hostel that’s just a 10-minute walk away from Copacabana beach!
Day 2: City tour. Take an action-packed tour of the city, taking in gorgeous Sao Conrado, Tijuca Forest, Christ the Redeemer (ticket included), Santa Teresa, and Lapa, home to the colourful Escadaria Selaron.
Day 3: Favela tour. Visit Santa Marta favela. You will be guided around the shanty-town by a local guide, who’ll show you how thousands of people live their lives on the hillside. Watch a Capoeira show by the kids at the local community centre.
Days 4-5: Perfect Paraty. Time to leave the city behind and get a taste of unspoilt paradise. From blissful beaches to quaint cobbled streets, welcome to Paraty! This lively town is full of elegant architecture, artists’ retreats and delicious restaurants. From here you’ll enjoy an island-hopping boat trip around Brazilian seas!
Days 6-7: Beautiful Ilha Grande. Leave Paraty behind, and explore more of Brazil’s stunning coastline! Your destination is Ilha Grande, a pristine island about half a day’s journey from the hustle and bustle of Rio de Janeiro. Spend your days here delving into the lush green rainforests, discovering exquisite hidden coves and then visit a spectacular white-sand beach.
Day 8: Return to Rio. An inclusive return transfer to the city takes you back to where you started. From here you can fly home or have more adventures in South America. Why not kick off an epic experience with our awesome Rio to Lima Adventure?
Please note: This unguided trip is a combination of local travel experiences. You will need to make sure you are in the right place at the right time to meet your daily tours, transfers and experiences. Some people you meet may be following the same itinerary as you, others may just be with you for certain parts of the package. This is a great way to get that independent traveller experience, while still enjoying loads of activities and meeting new people!

Arrive into Rio de Janeiro International Airport on day 1. An arrival transfer to your hostel is included.
Your trip ends in Rio on day 8. The time your trip ends may vary so we recommend booking an extra night. A return airport transfer is not included. If you would like help arranging an extra night and a return airport transfer please speak to us for details.
7 nights of accommodation are included on this tour. Accommodation will be in multi-share hostels, ideal for young backpackers. If you require an extra night of accommodation in Rio before your onward flight we can book this for you for approximately £25.
Breakfasts are included at your accommodation. You will need to purchase the rest of your meals yourself. Brazil has a delicious cuisine, including rice dishes, spicy stews and exotic fruit so you’ll never struggle for something yummy to eat!
The minimum age to join this group trip is 18.
British nationals do not currently need a visa to enter Brazil, but please check current visa information with the embassy or the FCO before you travel. You must have a valid passport (with a minimum of 6 months validity).
