Thai Adventure: 25 days

Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok. One of our team will meet you and take you to your hostel where you’ll meet the rest of your group and enjoy a first night out on Khao San Road!

Day 2: Bangkok to Chiang Mai. See the best of Bangkok with a long-tail boat tour including temple visits to Wat Arun and Wat Pho and an optional stop at the Grand Palace. Travel overnight to Chiang Mai.

Day 3: Chiang Mai. Arrive in Chiang Mai and explore the laid-back city before joining a Thai cooking class and going bargain-hunting at the famous Chiang Mai Night Market.

Day 4: Chiang Mai to the Elephant Project. Spend a night in an ethical elephant camp where you’ll get hands on with the animals, feeding and bathing them. Then sleep in a hut next to the herd!

Day 5: Hill Trek. Trek the spectacular mountains of Northern Thailand where you’ll see the most jaw-dropping views. Spend the night in a rustic retreat under a canopy of stars.

Day 6: Hill Trek & Chiang Mai. Trek for a couple of hours this morning before hopping on a traditional bamboo raft. Then transfer back to Chiang Mai.

Day 7: Chiang Mai to Koh Phi Phi. Fly to Krabi before getting the ferry to the tropical island of Phi Phi. Drop your bags before hitting the beach for a sun downer.

Day 8: Koh Phi Phi. Bliss out with free time in paradise today. Top up your tan, snorkel round the bay or treat yourself to a Thai massage on the sand.

Day 9: Phi Phi Viewpoint. Hike up to the best viewpoint on the island for the most amazing panorama across the island’s twin bays. Hit the bars tonight with your mates.

Day 10: Phi Phi Boat Trip. Cruise the crystal-clear waters round Phi Phi with lots of stops to swim and snorkel and a visit to Monkey Island to meet the cheeky residents.

Day 11: Phi Phi to Ao Nang. Transfer to Ao Nang. Tickle your taste buds tonight with a guided street-food crawl.

Day 12: Ao Nang & Bor Thor Mangrove Forests. Kayak through the mangrove forests of Bor Thor including a stop to see 3,000 year old cave paintings!

Day 13: Hong & Poda Island Boat Trip. Enjoy a boat trip today to the idyllic islands of Hong and Poda. Catch some rays, take some sea-selfies, or go snorkelling.

Day 14: Ao Nang to Khao Sok. Head inland to Khao Sok National Park where we’ll be taking a long-tail boat tour before spending the night in a ‘float-house’ on the lake.  

Day 15: Khao Sok to Koh Samui. Opt to take an early boat safari in the Park before travelling to Koh Samui, where we’ll have some beach time before going out for a big one in Chaweng!

Day 16: Koh Samui Beach Day. Free time on Koh Samui! Catch up on some zzzzs, lie back on a lilo, or slurp a smoothie to detox after your big night out!

Day 17: Ang Thong Marine Park. Take a day trip into the shimmering waters of Ang Thong. Snorkel and swim in the crystal-clear sea. Don’t forget your camera!

Day 18: Koh Samui to Koh Phangan. Take the ferry to Koh Phangan where you’ll be staying in the lively Baan Tai area.

Day 19: Free time on Koh Phangan. Kick back on the beach today, or book yourself onto a yoga or Muay Thai class before experiencing the hedonistic nightlife of the island.

Day 20: Free time on Koh Phangan. Spend today recovering, or get active with some paddle-boarding or a hike into the jungled interior of the island. Tonight’s your last night in Koh Phangan so go large!

Day 21: Koh Phangan to Koh Tao. Hop across to Koh Tao where you’ll find white sand beaches, palm trees and world-class diving. Drop your bag at the hostel and head out to explore.

Day 22: Koh Tao Boat Trip. Board the boat for an awesome snorkelling trip, including a stop at Koh Nang Yuan with its slender beach that disappears under the sea at high tide.

Day 23: Free Time on Koh Tao. How will you spend your last day in heaven? Will you go diving, take a long-tail tour, play beach volleyball or just put the finishing touches to your tan?

Day 24: Koh Tao to Bangkok. Say farewell to Koh Tao – we’re heading back to Bangkok by ferry then bus.  Head out for a final night under the neon lights of Khao San Road.

Day 25: Trip End. Head back to the airport - the Thai leg of your adventure has come to an end. Sawasdee-ka!!

Cambodia on a Shoestring: 10 days

Day 1: Bangkok. Arrive into Bangkok at any time and make your way to your accommodation in time for a 6pm welcome meeting.

Day 2: Bangkok/Siem Reap. Cross the Cambodian border and head for beautiful Siem Reap. Enjoy a tasty traditional meal at a local community project. Get to know the locals and enjoy a unique insight into Cambodian life.

Day 3: Siem Reap. Wake up early to watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat. Enjoy a guided tour around the temples and statues. Spend the afternoon relaxing in Siem Reap or choose from a range of optional activities, including a museum visit and a circus performance.

Day 4: Siem Reap/Phnom Penh. Jump aboard a local bus and travel to Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh. Arrive in the city and follow your guide on a brief orientation walk. Get ready for your first night of Cambodian city living!

Day 5: Phnom Penh. Take advantage of a full free day of exploration. Opt to visit the infamous S-21 prison or the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. Alternatively, you could delve into the busy Russian Market or take a look at the Royal Palace.

Day 6: Phnom Penh/Koh Rong. Head south to the stunning Cambodian coast and transfer to the paradise island of Koh Rong. Relax on your own private beach and enjoy a dip in the warm sea waters.

Day 7: Koh Rong. Spend the day chilling on the beach or opt to join a snorkelling boat trip and get up close to underwater wildlife.

Day 8: Koh Rong/Chambok. Climb aboard a private vehicle and travel to rural Cambodia for a traitional homestay. Tuck into an authentic homemade meal at a local village.

Day 9: Chambok/Ho Chi Minh City. Roll across the border into Vietnamand travel through the gorgeous  countryside towards Ho Chi Minh City. Enjoy a street food crawl and then head out into the city for some independent exploration. 

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City. Your fantastic shoestring adventure comes to an end today! Say goodbye to group and head for the airport. Depart at any time.


Vietnam Adventure: 12 days

Day 1: Welcome to Vietnam. Touch down at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and catch an inclusive transfer to your accommodation. Enjoy your first night in Vietnam!

Day 2: Hanoi Rickshaw Tour. Explore the city on the back of rickshaw and see top sights such as the Presidential Palace, the beautiful West Lake, the Ho Chi Minh complex and the One Pillar Pagoda. 

Day 3: Ha Long Bay Cruise. Board a traditional Vietnamese junk and sail out into the bay. You’ll be sleeping on board tonight! Enjoy caving, sea kayaking and even try your hand at a spot of late-night squid fishing as you cruise over tranquil waters.

Day 4: Wake up in Ha Long. Wake up to beautiful island views from your cabin. Enjoy a full free day here to make the most of your exquisite surroundings. Then jump on board an overnight train to Hue.

Day 5: Cooking and sunsets in Hue. Learn how to prepare delicious Vietnamese cuisine at a cooking class and then cruise down river on a Dragon Boat for sunset at Thien Mu Pagoda. 

Day 6: Hoi An. Depart Hue and travel over to Hoi An via the impressive Hai Van Pass. Arrive in Hoi An and explore its lantern lit streets, buzzing market stalls and gorgeous waterways. 

Day 7: Cycling and Crab Fishing. Cycle through the stunning Hoi An countryside before navigating rivers and coconut groves on a traditional fisherman’s boat. The fisherman will even show you how to catch crab as you float through these tranquil Vietnamese waters!

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh City. Fly south and visit famous Ho Chi Minh City. Delve into the bustling streets on a rickshaw and wander the colourful local markets and street food stalls. Then enjoy dinner and drinks with your group.

Day 9: Discover more of Ho Chi Minh. Today is a great opportunity to get to know Ho Chi Minh City in more detail. Why not learn about the Vietnam War at the War Remnants Museum or just kick back and relax in this vibrant city?

Day 10: Mekong Delta. Today explore the beautiful Mekong Delta and learn first hand how locals live, visit local villages and experience daily life on the Mekong.

Day 11: Cu Chi Tunnels. Head underground and explore the incredible Cu Chi Tunnels, a sprawling network of underground passages that were used during the war for supplies and communication. Then enjoy a farewell night out in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 12: Onwards to Bali/Philippines! Your amazing adventure in Vietnam has come to an end! Time to head across to Bali (Option 1) or the Philippines (Option 2) for your next stunning experience.


Bali Intro: 12 days

Day 1: Arrive in Denpasar, Bali. Begin your awesome Bali Intro! Arriving into Denpasar Airport you’ll be picked up and taken to your gorgeous guesthouse in Kuta to meet the rest of your group.

Day 2: Beaches, Temples & Sunsets. Start today with a short drive to a stunning temple, set on a cliff edge in Uluwatu. Your next stop is the famous Padang Padang beach. Enjoy a sunset dinner before heading back to Kuta for its spectacular nightlife!

Day 3: Learn to Surf. Make tracks for the laid-back surfing spot of Canggu, famous for its volcanic sands. Learn how to surf in one of the world’s most exciting surfing destinations. 

Day 4: Temples, Waterfalls & Rice Paddies. Stop off at two of Bali’s most amazing ancient temples before hand-feeding wild monkeys. Stop to swim at an incredible waterfall, before arriving in the exquisite mountain surroundings of Lovina.

Day 5: Dolphins & Culture. Hop on board a traditional outrigger boat for snorkelling and dolphin-spotting adventures. Visit a local homestay for a Balinese basket weaving experience.

Day 6: Travel to the Gorgeous Gili Islands. A fast ferry takes you to the idyllic island of Gili Trawangan, a real slice of paradise. Enjoy some free time and then head out to make the most of the amazing island nightlife.

Day 7: Gili Island Bike Tour. Take a biking tour of this gem of an island, snapping photos of the breathtaking views and taking breaks to laze on white sand beaches.

Day 8: Snorkelling Boat Trip, Group Dinner & Party Night. Take a boat tour around all three gorgeous Gili Islands today. Tuck in to a delicious group dinner and then make the most of your last evening on the island and party in paradise!

Day 9: Travel on to Ubud. Jump on a ferry bound for Ubud.

Day 10: Monkey Forest. Visit Ubud’s most famous attraction, Monkey Forest, an incredible temple which is home to hundreds of mischievous wild monkeys. Enjoy Ubud and get out and about this evening with your new friends.

Day 11: Sunrise Volcano Trek & Massage. Head out for an unforgettable sunrise Volcano trek, including a breakfast cooked using the natural heat from the volcano. Hike back to Ubud, arriving mid-morning and ease your muscles with an inclusive massage. The rest of the day is free.

Day 12: Bali Intro Ends. Your Ultimate Asia package has come to an end. Time to head home and show off your holiday snaps!

Please note: We try to run as many of our start dates back-to-back, so that you can finish one programme and head straight into your next adventure. On occasional start dates there may be days in between where you will need to arrange your own accommodation. This is a great opportunity to explore more of these countries for yourself. China Adventure: 27 days (Option 2 only)

Day 1: Arrive in Hong Kong. Arrive at any time and get settled in to your hostel, ready to begin your epic China Adventure. There are no activities planned for today.

Day 2: Hong Kong to Yangshuo. 7am start for a tram ride to Victoria Peak and a welcome briefing at the top. At 11 a.m. you'll depart Hong Kong and cross the border into mainland China, where you’ll hop on a train and bus to Yangshuo.

Day 3-6: Yangshuo. Inclusive bamboo rafting experience down the Li River. Optional activities include a cooking class, visit to mud baths, deep water soloing, watching traditional fishing using birds, cupping treatment, or a local village visit. On day 6 you will board a bus to Guilin and a night train to Chengdu.

Day 7: Chengdu. Optional activities include a massage, sampling a traditional Sichuan Hotpot and a free Mandarin lesson.

Day 8: Chengdu. Inclusive morning visit to meet some of China’s most wonderful wildlife, the Giant Panda, at the world-renowned Panda Breeding Research Centre. Optional trip to see the impressive Leshan Buddha (extra cost).

Day 9: Chengdu. Visit Wenshu Temple before making tracks for Xi’an on an overnight train.

Day 10: Xi’an. Guided tour of Muslim Quarter (25RMB) or join an optional bike tour around the city (extra cost of 100RMB, approx £10). Street food dinner in Muslim Quarter, visit to Silk Road Market.

Day 11: Xi’an: The Terracotta Warriors. Marvel at one of the wonders of the ancient world today as you take a tour of the awe-inspiring site of the Terracotta Warriors, one of China’s must-see attractions. In the evening you can help out at a soup kitchen or home for the disadvantaged providing food and support to Xi’an’s homeless people.

Day 12: Xi’an to Dengfeng. Bus to Dengfeng. Children's Centre visit with Kung Fu show and option to join in a Kung Fu lesson (extra cost of 150RMB). Evening Mandarin lesson.

Day 13: Dengfeng. Free time. Optional visit to a Shaolin Temple (extra cost of 150RMB) or hike to Buddhist pilgrimage site of Dharma Cave. Night train to Beijing.

Day 14-16: Beijing and the Great Wall. Mandarin lesson and Mandarin challenge in Beijing! A meal at a local farm is followed by a hike along the Great Wall as the sun goes down, then set up camp for a night under canvas. Wake to a memorable sunrise and then head to Beijing for two days of free time and fun in this buzzing capital city. Optional attractions include a visit to The Forbidden City, the Olympic Village & Bird’s Nest Stadium or a Beijing Acrobatics Show (all at extra cost).

Day 17-19: Beijing – Hangzhou - Shanghai. Travellers on the tour will board a train to the beautiful lake city of Hangzhou. You will stay in the countryside around the Misty Forest, and hike up to the peak of magical Jiuyao Mountain. After another inclusive Mandarin lesson you'll travel onwards by minibus and train to Shanghai.

Day 20-22: Shanghai. Optional activities include a French Concession Walking Tour, bar crawl or a visit to a roof bar to sip champagne in a hot tub (all at extra cost).

Day 23: Nanjing, Fujian Province. Nanjing in Fujian Province (not to be confused with the more famous Nanjing City North of Shanghai) has been described as one of Asia’s most picturesque areas. Travel there by train and spend the night in a traditional roundhouse known as a ‘Tulou’, part of the culture of the local Hakka people.

Day 24: Fujian Province. Visit roundhouses, temples and stunning countryside in this area. Sip Chinese tea in a traditional tea ceremony and take a dip in the local river and then head into the hills.

Day 25: Fujian Province to Guangzhou. Start your day on the tea plantation by picking and drinking the local tea as you enjoy the spectacular views. Cycle to a local village before having a last dinner with the locals. Travel by night train and bus towards Guangzhou.

Day 26: Macau - Hong Kong. Arrive early and travel across the border and then by casino bus on to Macau, famous for its casinos and lively nightlife. Travel back to Hong Kong by boat in the evening and spend one final night at your city hostel.

Day 27: Hong Kong. The China Adventure ends today in Hong Kong. Head to Bangkok in time for the first day of your Thai Adventure.

Please note: This tour uses public transport to get to activities and to transfer between hostels and train stations. Most overnight train journeys are unaccompanied, but one guide will put you on the train and you will be met at the end by another guide.


Philippines Intro: 10 days (option 2 only)

Day 1: Arrive in Manila. Arrive into Manila Airport and be transferred to your accommodation. Meet your fellow travellers on the roof terrace and then enjoy a delicious group meal.

Day 2: Manila/Palawan. Fly to Palawan. Visit the unusual Iwahig Prison. In the evening, try some tasty Filipino seafood.

Day 3: Honda Bay Island Hopping. Enjoy breakfast with your group and then discover the gorgeous islands of Honda Bay on a boat trip, with stops for swimming and snorkelling. Cruise through these beautiful surroundings and then head over to Port Barton. 

Day 4: Island living. Climb aboard a boat to cruise around the surrounding island beaches. Catch fish to grill on the beach, and snorkel shoulder to shoulder with turtles along the reefs. You’ll be sleeping in tents on the beach – a true island adventure!

Day 5: Port Barton. Spend the morning interacting with local school children. Delve into the surrounding jungle to discover a cascading waterfall. Then, head back to Port Barton for a final night of idyllic beachside living.

Day 6: El Nido. Time to depart Port Barton and head to El Nido. Spend the evening relaxing on the beach. Then get dressed up for a night at a lively beachside reggae bar!

Day 7: Island Hopping. Cruise around gorgeous tiny islands on a private boat. Take some time to snorkel and kayak around the islands, and feast on the delicious food that is freshly prepared onboard. All drinks included onboard. 

Day 8: El Nido Cultural Experience. Explore the villages surrounding El Nido and learn local skills such as coconut shaving. Opt to experience an awesome 750m zipline that whizzes across the ocean between two tropical islands! (Extra cost of PH500/approx. £7.50)

Day 9: Canopy Walk and Massage. Walk along rope bridges through the treetops and climb up to the top of the limestone cliffs and marvel at the incredible panoramic views of the town. Then enjoy an inclusive traditional Filipino massage! 

Day 10: Depart El Nido. It’s time to say goodbye to this fantastic 10-day adventure! Fly out from El Nido or take an inclusive 6-hour return transfer to Puerto Princesa Airport. Fly on to Bali!

Arrival information


You will need to arrange your flights to arrive in to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport between 6am and 10pm on day one. Our local team will be waiting for you with a 'Gap 360' sign. They will take you to your hotel where you will be introduced to the rest of your group.


Arrive into Bangkok airport on Day 1 of the Cambodia tour.

Your tour ends in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on Day 10. A return airport transfer is not included.


You should arrange your arrival into Noi Bai International airport, Hanoi on day 1. An airport transfer is included, and you’ll be met and taken to your accommodation where you’ll meet your group and guide. Please note: The tour ends in Ho Chi Minh City.

You can arrive in advance of the start date and still take up the inclusive transfer if you book extra night's accommodation through us. If you wish to arrive before the start date then please let us know this in advance.


You will need to arrange your own arrival into Denpasar Airport in Bali on day 1. An airport transfer is included and you will be picked up and taken to your accommodation in Kuta, where you can relax and meet the rest of your group.

You can arrive in advance of the start date and still take up the inclusive transfer if you book extra night's accommodation through us. If you wish to arrive before the start date then please let us know this in advance.

China (option 2 only)

You should arrange your flight to arrive into Hong Kong International Airport on day 1. Airport transfers are not included. Transfer options are:

  • Taxi. Approximate travel time to hostel: 45 mins. Approximate cost: £35.
  • MTR airport express Metro system. Cheap and easy to use, with signposts in English. One change required but clear directions. Approx travel time to hostel: 45 mins + 2 mins walk from Metro station to hostel. Approx cost: £10.

The tour ends in Hong Kong on day 27.

Philippines (option 2 only)

Arrive into Manila Airport on day 1, where your group leader will meet you and take you across to your accommodation. 

If you arrive any earlier than the tour start date, accommodation will be at your own cost. If this is the case, we can help you organize extra accommodation, so let us know!

Your tour ends in El Nido on day 10. We recommend flying out from El Nido airport on this day. An airport transfer is not included but is easy to arrange.

Accommodation & meals


All your accommodation is included on the Thai Adventure. For the majority of the trip your accommodation will be multi-share hostels.

You will be required to purchase the rest of your meals yourself. This is an excellent opportunity to throw yourself into local life and interact with local people at restaurants and food markets. Southeast Asian cuisine is delicious and mostly very cheap so eating out during your trip shouldn’t break the bank!


2 nights will be spent in a mixed dorm funky 'flashpacker' hostel in Hanoi, 1 night in a twin or triple share overnight traditional junk boat in Ha Long Bay, 1 night in a mixed dorm on a private island, 1 night in a twin or triple share local homestay in Ninh Binh, 1 night in a 4 share cabin overnight train, and 2 nights in a twin or triple share hotel in Hoi An. You will also spend 2 nights in a twin or triple share hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, and 1 night in a twin or triple share hotel in the Mekong Delta.

Occasional meals are included on this tour. Other meals will be at your own cost, but there are plenty of places to find cheap and delicious food in Vietnam!


All your accommodation is included during the Bali Intro. The accommodation is of a great standard, with incredible swimming pools, private bathrooms, air conditioning and hot water. You'll be seriously spoilt on this brilliant Bali Intro! 

5 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 dinners are included on this tour. If you are booked on the 12-day tour, then a further 3 breakfasts are also included. Other meals on the trip are at your own cost. Dietary requirements can be catered for but please inform us of these at the time of booking.

China (option 2 only)

All your accommodation is included for the duration of this tour: Travellers on this tour will have 26 nights' of accommodation included. Accommodation will be multi-share in hostels, tents, and overnight trains.

Food is not included as part of this tour, but your guide will always recommend great local restaurants in which to enjoy a group meal, where you can find cheap and delicious food. An average meal will cost around 60-80RMB per person. Group meals are optional, and you can find your own food options if you prefer. However, group meals tend to work out cheaper per head and are a fun way to get to know your group better!

If you want to eat on a budget, you can always grab a bowl of noodles or fried rice for as little as 10RMB (approx £1). Most of the hostels you stay at en route offer affordable Western dishes like pizza and pasta for a cost of around 30RMB (approx £3) or have facilities for you to make some instant noodles. If you want to eat out at Western restaurants you can expect to pay a similar price as you would at home.

Philippines (option 2 only)

9 nights’ accommodation is included from the start date of the tour. Accommodation will mainly be in multi-share hostels, hotels and beachside resorts. One night will be spent in shared tents on the beach.

8 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 2 dinners are included on this tour. You will be required to purchase the rest of your meals yourself so this is a great opportunity to soak up the culture of the Philippines by trying local food from street vendors and checking out the wonderful restaurants and bars these islands have to offer.

Minimum age & eligibility

The minimum age to join this Ultimate Asia trip is 18.


The allowed duration of your trip varies depending upon how you plan to arrive into Thailand. Without a visa, British nationals arriving by air can remain in the country for a maximum of 30 days.

There may be independent travel time between the end of your Thai Adventure and the beginning of your Cambodia on a Shoestring trip. If this is the case, you may need to get a 60-day visa for Thailand before you leave the UK. Please contact us for more details.


Visas can be obtained in advance from your nearest embassy or on arrival in Bangkok. You will need at least one full working day to arrange this. You can also obtain your visa at the Cambodian border for approx. £25. Bring plenty of passport size photos with you.


British nationals can enter Vietnam for a maximum of 15 days without a visa. You must have at least 6 months validity remaining on your passport from the date you enter the country. If you wish to stay longer than 15 days, or wish to leave and re-enter the country within 30 days you will need to apply for a visa before travel.

The Cambodia part of your trip ends in Vietnam. Depending on start dates there may be a bit of time spare between your Cambodia and Vietnam experiences. In this case you may be in Vietnam for longer than 15 days and will require a visa. Please speak to a travel advisor for more information. 


British visitors arriving in Bali (or anywhere in Indonesia) will be issued with a free visa on arrival, valid for a stay of up to 30 days. You must have a passport with at least 6 months validity from your arrival date.

If you wish to stay in Indonesia for longer than 30 days, you will no longer be able to extend your visa in-country, so you will need to apply for a 60 day tourist/social visa in advance of travel. Please contact us for further details.

China (option 2 only)

Travellers to China will need a visa in advance of travel, which you will need to obtain in person from your nearest Chinese visa application centre, which are located in London, Manchester and Edinburgh.

You will need to book an appointment slot online, and travel to the visa application centre with your passport, application form and letter of invitation. You will then be asked to return to the visa application centre at a later date to collect your visa.

Your letter of invitation will be issued to you within 3 months of your travel date, and you can then begin your visa application process. You will also be issued with a step-by-step guide which will help you with your visa application.

Please be aware that visa rules and regulations are always subject to change and it is your responsibility to check the current rules with the Chinese Embassy before you travel.

Philippines (option 2 only)

British citizens can enter the Philippines without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days, provided you have a valid return or onward travel ticket and six months’ validity on your passport.
