Types of Work
Our jobs teams in Vancouver and Toronto are the best port of call to find work, whether you’re looking for seasonal work, flexible hours, or something in a specific industry. They work with local recruitment agencies and independent businesses and organisations to find you the best work available while you’re in Canada. Some examples of roles that are most commonly available are:
Hospitality - front of house, kitchen, restaurant, events
Tourism - ski resort jobs, housekeeping, lift operators, guest services
Retail - head office staff, sales, warehouse, floor staff
Office - admin roles, customer services, human resources and more!
Depending whereabouts you're based in Canada, activities can range from east to west. Toronto, in the east, is great for visiting museums, various gardens, and to get to Niagara Falls. Vancouver, in the west, is perfect for water-top activities, spotting monuments and statues, and being bowled over by beautiful scenery at close by national parks. But wherever you find yourself in Canada, you'll never be stuck for things to do.
Make the most of your time in this gorgeous place by covering as much ground as possible – whether you've got a couple of days each week to explore your local area, or plan to work your way from east coast to west. We've got some great tours that could help you make your time here count. Check out our Canada trips page for some inspiration.
Did you know there are also other paid work programmes where the visa rules are not as strict? Check out our Paid Work page for information about other destinations.

Depending on the city you've chosen to begin your adventure in, you'll need to arrange flights to arrive at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) or Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on your programme start date. Airport transfers are not included but it is really easy to make your own way to the city centre hostels using taxis or public transport.
Both our hostels in Vancouver and Toronto are clean, safe, and comfortable, and are set in fun and lively areas in the heart of each city. You'll share a dorm with up to five other travellers, you'll have your own locker, and access to shared bathrooms, a shared kitchen and common room, laundry facilities, and free Wifi. We include 2 nights of accommodation in your programme, and we can assist you in booking further nights in Canada before you travel.
Meals aren't provided during this programme, so you'll have a fantastic opportunity to try out the local cuisine – which is awesome, by the way. From poutine, to smoked meat, butter tarts to warming fish chowder, Canadians know what they're doing with food, so have fun trying as much of it as you can.
About the Working Holiday Visa
You must obtain a Working Holiday Visa before beginning your programme. Canadian Working Holiday Visas are subject to eligibility – you'll need to meet the following criteria:
- British citizens must be aged between 18-30 years old
- Irish citizens must be aged between 18-35 years old
- Age restrictions for other nationalities vary, please contact us for more information.
- Have $2500 CAD funds to support yourself
Canadian Immigration have set a quota for how many visas will be available for UK and Irish citizens. The cost of the working holiday visa is $250 CAD.
The Working Holiday Visa is a three-step process in which each application is entered into a pool (providing you're eligible to apply for a Working Holiday Visa in the first place). Applicants are then randomly selected from the pool and invited to apply for a work permit. If you receive an invitation to apply, you'll then need to put together paperwork and information to support your initial application, including proof of education, work history, and background, plus any additional documentation required. The whole process can be quite lengthy and is a lottery based system, so be prepared to wait up to a year to find out whether or not you'll be successful.
If you'd like further help and guidance to apply for your Working Holiday Visa, you'll receive an information pack from us once you've paid your £49 trip deposit. Please note, this does not guarantee you a visa or count towards any of the cost of your visa. Programme deposits are non-refundable.
1. Put down your £49 non-refundable deposit to provisionally secure your space on your chosen start date and receive your visa guidance pack
2. Apply for your Working Holiday Visa in Canada directly with Canadian Immigration
3. Once your visa is granted let us know, pay your final balance and we will make the final arrangements for your package in Canada on your chosen start date
4. Head out to Canada!
