Further trip information

Day 1: Arrive in Cape Town. Touch down in Cape Town and jump on your included arrival transfer to your starting hostel.  Settle in, freshen up after your flight and get to know the local area.

Day 2: Cape Town – Sedgefield. Travel to Wilderness National Park, a stunning area of beaches, lakes and rivers. Canoe across the beautiful Wilderness lagoon and cool off with a dip in the Indian Ocean.

Day 3: Sedgefield – Jeffreys Bay. Visit The Heads this morning, two mighty sandstone cliffs that look over the sea. Go thrill seeking with an optional bungee jump or visit the magical Big Tree in Tsitsikamma National Park. Continue on to Jeffrey’s Bay where you will spend the night.

Day 4: Jeffreys Bay – Addo Elephant Park. Enjoy a game drive in Addo National Park, an incredible area that is home to a huge variety of animals, including over 500 elephants, buffalos, black rhinos, lions, zebras and much more. Later, catch some waves with a surf at Jeffreys bay or chill out by the sea with the rest of your group.

Day 5: Jeffreys Bay – Oudtshoorn. Opt to zip-line down a waterfall, crossing the river gorge and getting up close to the fantastic landscapes of this area. Then visit an ostrich farm and learn all about this weird and wonderful creature. Optional 4x4 game drive around a beautiful private game reserve this afternoon.

Day 6: Oudsthoorn – Cape Town. Get close to elephants on an optional elephant bush walk. After this you will enjoy an excursion to the Cango Caves, an enchanting network of underground passageways and stalactite-filled chambers. Hit Route 62 which is famed for its exquisite wineries. Sample some local vintages and soak up the glorious surroundings. Arrive in Cape Town this evening.

Day 7: Trip Ends. Wake up and depart at any time. A return transfer is not included but is easy to arrange. Speak to a travel advisor about your onward travel plans for advice about your best transfer options.

Arrival information

Fly into Cape Town International Airport on day 1 and take your included transfer to your hostel accommodation. The tour ends in Cape Town in the evening on day 6. You can depart Cape Town at any time on day 7. A return transfer is not included but is easy to arrange.

Accommodation & meals

6 nights of accommodation are included on this tour. Accommodation will be in multi-share rooms. Double or Twin rooms may be available. Please speak to a travel advisor for more information.

Meals are not included on this trip. This is a great chance to make the most of your travel experience by sampling local delicacies and interacting with local people at restaurants and markets.

Minimum age & eligibility

The minimum age to join this trip is 18. This fantastic trip is an open-aged experience that caters for a mix of younger and older travellers. This means that you may travel with people who are outside your own age group. Such a mix of ages creates a great group dynamic and enhances the travel experience, as you get to know a range of people with different stories to tell!

Nationals of the EU, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand don’t require a visa to enter South Africa. South African Immigration does ask that you have two completely blank consecutive pages in your passport, though as long as you hold a valid passport (and a valid return ticket) you will be granted a temporary visitor’s permit on arrival, allowing visitors to stay in South Africa for up to three months. You should also ensure that your passport will still be in date for six months after you return.

Trained and knowledgeable staff
Our staff in the UK are trained to help you with your trip before you depart and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the local team and guides on our trips are there to help with any health and safety concerns and to ensure our trips run safely and smoothly.

Reduced group sizes
Some trips will run with reduced group sizes to start with. You may find that trips are more intimate and chilled, whilst still being packed with fun and adventure.

Healthcare
Your guide or the local team will be on hand to help you seek medical attention should you require it during your trip. As medical facilities and standards can vary around the world, you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place before you depart to cover you for any medical emergencies.

24/7 emergency support
We operate an emergency phone line for our travellers abroad. This is operated by a UK based member of staff 24/7 if you have a genuine emergency or urgent matter that you need attending.

It is important that you take measures to make travelling safer for yourself and others around you. Ensure you frequently wash your hands, cover your face when you sneeze and cough, bring and use your own hand sanitiser and facial coverings/masks, and enable social distancing where necessary. You should also ensure you listen to the instructions and guidance of the local team at all times, and follow all local laws and restrictions.
