Further trip information

Day 1: Cairo. Arrive into Cairo and make your way to your starting accommodation. Chill at the hotel, or plunge straight into the bustling city. You’ll meet your group this evening and get to know the gang over a local meal.

Day 2: Cairo / Aswan. This morning’s destinations are the iconic Giza Pyramids and Sphinx – a real bucket-list moment. After, head back to Cairo for a tour of Khan el-Khalili Bazaar. Enjoy a hookah, pick up some handicrafts and tuck into some falafel. This evening, board the sleeper train to Aswan.

Day 3: Aswan. Wake up as the train rolls into Aswan. You’ve got a free morning to explore the city. Visit the souks, discover Philae Temple, or join an optional tour of the city. In the afternoon, cruise down the Nile to a Nubian village where you’ll enjoy a home-cooked meal with the locals.

Day 4: Aswan. Discover more of the tranquil riverside city at your own pace today. Trawl the souks, visit the botanical gardens or just sit back with a mint tea and watch the world go by. We’ve also got an optional trip to the unforgettable twin temples of Abu Simbel.

Day 5: Aswan / Kom Ombo / Luxor. We’re taking to the river today on board a traditional wooden boat known as a felucca. Head to Aswan Bridge before disembarking. Travel to Luxor with a stop en route at Kom Ombo Temple. Arrive into Luxor in the afternoon and explore the city. Visit the Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, the Mummification Museum, or take a tour of the East Bank

Day 6: Luxor Free Day. Today is yours to explore Luxor. We have an epic optional excursion to the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. If that's not for you, spend your time exploring the beauties of Luxor.

Day 7: Luxor / Cairo. We'll make our way by ferry to the West Bank where our guide will be waiting for us. Hop on a bike and join the team in exploring the village before making our way to the Funtasia Project Center. We will make our way back across the Nile with plenty of time before boarding the overnight train back to Cairo

Day 8: Cairo. Wake up as the train arrives into Giza Station in Cairo. Your amazing tour ends on arrival. See you again soon!

Arrival information

You’ll need to arrive into Cairo International Airport (CAI) on day 1 or earlier. There are no activities planned until this evening when you’ll meet your guide and group. If this is your first trip to Egypt we highly recommend that you book an airport transfer through us (speak to your travel advisor), as navigating your way through the arrivals hall and negotiating a fair price for a taxi service can be a challenge. If you do get your own taxi, expect the drive to take between 20 minutes and an hour, depending on traffic. Taxis do not have meters so you’ll want to agree a price before leaving the airport.

You’ll have a short meeting with your guide and group shortly after arrival. A welcome note will be left at the hotel detailing when and where to meet. If you arrive late, the local team will leave a note telling you where to meet the group the next morning.

Your trip ends on day 8 on arrival in Cairo (night 7 is spent on a sleeper train). We recommend that you don’t book any onward flights before mid-afternoon on day 8 as trains can be subject to delays. You’ll need to arrange your own return airport transfer, but your guide can help with this.

Accommodation & meals

Accommodation

This trip includes 7 nights of accommodation. 5 nights will be spent in twin-share hotels. Rooms are clean and comfortable but very simple, with en suite bathroom facilities and air conditioning. You’ll also have 2 nights on sleeper trains, modern air-conditioned sleepers with twin-berth beds.

If you require any extra nights of accommodation pre or post trip, please speak to your travel advisor.

Meals

7 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 4 dinners are included. You’ll need to buy all other meals, snacks and drinks yourself. This gives you plenty of flexibility to experience the delicious local cuisine.

Minimum age & eligibility

You’ll need to be a minimum of 18 years old to participate in this trip. This trip is designed for travellers aged between 18-39.

British citizens need a visa to travel to Egypt. You can get a visa before you travel from the official visa website or your nearest Egyptian consulate. Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from your date of entry into Egypt.

Visa rules and regulations are subject to change. Please check the relevant embassy websites for the most up to date visa information.
